I'm not sure if you have ever tried this, but in Hawaii we also use li hing mui powder. It's a used for candy and for dried fruits like mangos and pineapple, but it also works well for salting the rim of margaritas. Some people (including me) find that the Li hing mui can be a little over powering, so I mix it with sea salt to thin it down a bit so it doesn't take away from the taste of the margarita. But it adds a very nice twist to the original. It's actually kind of addicting. If you try it once, you'll most likely use it and crave it from that moment on. Kinda like the 1st time you tried putting salt on watermelon, but better. In fact Li hing mui is great on watermelon.
I have actually added powder to a bottle of gold tequila and made margaritas that way too.
Anyway, just wanted to pass that on. Mahalo for your recipe.
A hui hou

It's like a syrup from the Agave plant! Similar consistency to honey- you can find agave in the baking aisle usually!
